My only complaint with the game is that there is only 3 songs in the entire soundtrack for the courses T his Port of the original game also includes new modes which include a mini game mode called Crazy Box and a new map for new places to go to as well as the original arcade map. This may seem a little to simple but you will be jumping over buildings, driving down the wrong side of the street, jumping through parks and other things to get there as quickly as possible The gameplay behind this game is that you are a taxi driver and have to pick out customers and take them to their destination as quickly as posible before the timer runs out and keep picking up customers to rank up your score This version didn't knock down the gameplay of this wild and crazy game that was release before. Good CRAAAAAZY fun for everyone to enjoy, great classicĬrazy Taxi was originally a game that was produced for an arcade cabinet a year before and was an excellent quality gameīack in 2000 when i heard that crazy taxi was going to be released on the dreamcast i was happy to see this game being released for the home consoles. This game would be a good addition to a collection and not much more. There are many great games for Dreamcast. If you are looking for a fun game to spend your time on, look elsewhere. This game could have been redeemable with something like a money, car upgrade system, multiplayer aspect, or SOMETHING, b ut everything you ever do on this game has no beneficial outcome or reward. One good thing about this game would have to be the short but good list of songs by The Offspring witch really brings you back to the early 2000s. The extra controls are confusing to use and not well explained anywhere throughout the game. There is no story, no campaign mode, no multiplayer, nothing to achieve, and no tutorial.ĭriving is actually pretty slow and acceleration takes forever making it a stab to the flow of the game play every time you bump into something. Little did I know that was all the game was. When I bought this game I had the basic understanding that it was a fast paced game were you get people from point A to point B under a time limit. Gamers with a Visual Memory Unit can use it to save their data and customized options. The game will work with the Dreamcast steering wheel, and force feedback adds a real jolt to the bumps and jumps. There are nine mini-games in all, each more difficult than the last. They've also created a new course (which is also set in San Francisco) as well as a series of mini-games that you can play in order to unlock hidden cars. The aim here is to be as crazy as possible.įor the home version, the developers at Sega's AM3 have thrown in more cars to unlock, such as a pedal taxi. At the end of the game, you receive a license that rates your level of craziness. The crazier the stunts the more money for you. You race against the clock the entire time, and your customers give you tips for doing crazy stunts. The music in the Arcade version, which was supplied by the bands Bad Religion and The Offspring, is the same here, as are many of the environments. Joe, whose car is really fast but lacks traction on non-paved surfaces Gena, who can accelerate and brake with the best of them and Gus, whose car is the opposite of B.D. In this port for the Sega Dreamcast, which uses the same 3D "Naomi" chip technology as many of Sega's arcade games, you can pick from the same assortment of cabbies to control: Axel, an all-around average guy B.D. An overhead arrow points in the general direction you should go. Destinations can include such real world places as Tower Records and Pizza Hut. Your job is to do anything you can - including driving down sidewalks and cutting off other cars - to get your passengers where they want to go as quickly as possible. The gameplay is open-ended: you decide who you want to pick up based on the waiting passengers' fare levels, which are indicated by differently colored dollar signs over their heads. One of the more popular - and certainly more creative - racing titles to hit the arcades during 1999 is Crazy Taxi, an offbeat game wherein the goal is to take various passengers to their destinations as fast as possible.
